Updating expressgate on asus

wanna check the web on the go wihtout 1000drivers loaded? You know, I searched for " Express" and "Gate" in the G74 pdf manual, ..a single hitfor anything related to this. I have a stable connection and i use the browser very well.

:sigh: A separate hard copy manual for Express Gate is shipped with the G74SX.

Thanks to Tom (ASUS Forum VIP Member) sharing all kinds of great information. ...age=1&count=33 Some of the information from the same page looks like, Express Gate SSD. Disconnect all unnecessary USB devices, especially all USB microphones and USB speakers. Go to tools tab and choose Asus express gate [Enabled], Reset User Data [Reset]. Then ran Asus to have the latest version of Express Gate updater.

Unzip it, double click the files Asus Setup.ini, Asus Setup32.ini, Asus Setup64and paste the following paragraph in the end of the sections [OS_Language_Tag]. The file you have to choose for update is called: ST_ASUSEG00_512MB_v1.4.6.9_20090409. Ran the fresh Express Gate updater you have just installed and update choosing the file: ST_ASUSEG00_512MB_v1.4.6.9_20090409. Don’t forget to check the box to reset user data during the installation! Prepare a flash drive formatted in FAT32 (you are going to need it to save files downloaded from the Internet and photos as you will see! Don't forget to set up your sound options and LAN options. Finally when you enter your OS go again to Start-run-(in XP) or Start-Accessories-run (in Vista) and type: msconfig 14. well 1 in 50 attempts it updates (small widgets, mp3 player) but most of the time it says Server not found..I believe ASUS Express Gate is a BIOS extension to allow you to have limited functionality without having to access the Windows 7 OS.It's function is to speed up boot time and let you do some things without loading the OS. I've installed it before out of curiosity, but uninstalled it when I can't find the way to open it..As such, I believe ASUS would have to provide the update to increase its functionality. ; I believe ASUS Express Gate is a BIOS extension to allow you to have limited functionality without having to access the Windows 7 OS.
